Lesson Description
We are so glad you are here! The first thing you will need to do is create your very own Greenbush+ account. This page includes instructions on how to complete this first step.
To help you understand the different situations concerning licensure and becoming a substitute teacher, the good folks at Humboldt have created and provided the graphic below.

Welcome to Greenbush+ and this course on the Emergency Substitute Teacher License Training!
1. In order to get started, please create your Greenbush+ account by clicking "Sign Up" at the top right of the page.
2. After your Greenbush+ account is created and you are logged in, you will then need to click on, "Emergency Substitute License."
3. Once inside the Emergency Substitute License program, you will then work to complete each of the ten modules in order. Your progress will be automatically saved as you progress and you do not need to complete all ten modules at once. After you have completed all ten modules, you will then need to take the final exam which is titled, "Emergency Substitute License Module Series Final."
4. Once you complete each of the modules and the final exam on Greenbush Plus, you will need to complete some additional items with KSDE in order to receive your license. The video below walks you through that process. This information will also be provided at the end of the training as well.
- What if I already have this license from a previous year? It will be extended by KSDE through June 30, 2025.
- What if I am acquiring my first emergency substitute license? It will be Issued by KSDE and valid through June 30, 2025.
Standard & Emergency Substitute License Requirements

Verification of Employment Form - This form will be used by the applicant and the hiring school district as part of the process to obtain the expanded emergency substitute license after the completion of the Greenbush modules. Candidates will need to work with their hiring school district to complete this form.
